Our Kensington project was a major renovation to an existing freestanding dwelling which with the use of the existing roof space created a second storey, capturing city skyline views. The renovation focused on a need for additional space and the generation of open plan living.
The second storey addition provided a unique space for the main bedroom with ensuite and home office with the positioning of centre pivoting timber windows to maximise airflow and encapsulate the city skyline.
The use of cathedral ceilings in the open plan living area creates depth combined with hardwood sliding doors cleverly engages the seamless flow between internal and external spaces. The architect made use of raw materials in the design process including the use of timber throughout.
Studio Constructions used recycled bricks from the demolition phase for the construction of the covered outdoor dining room that helped to compliment the structural materials used in the roof and to soften the concrete floors. Cleverly positioned joinery provides ample storage throughout the home which is both simple and efficient.
